Have you ever felt trapped, but not in a cage? Wanted, what didn’t make sense? Hated, what you were told to love?
Stillness is a game about a lot of things, and yet also nothing in particular. A Surrealist Drama, told thru the form of a unique hybrid point-&-Click adventure/life sim. It starts with the player trapped in their apartment by invisible chains, when they are drawn out by the death of a stranger, only to see her alive and well, starring down at her own corpse. From there it leads our name(less) protagonists on a journey exploring the surreal world of the mundane.
The Player controls our protagonist as they run around their apartment for days, accessing the maybe-real-world around them, collecting items, managing the main character’s thoughts and moods, and mess around on their phone.
Stillness officially went into development Summer 2016, but this game idea has been something I been working on, in one form or another, for some time. it is a very in-depth project for me, with many facets I have, and will, talk at length about. Here’s a list of what I’ve written down so far:
Additionally, check out my blog for monthly updates on my progress!
Stillness This is something I am rather proud of, and deeply wish to see this project make a full release in the future.
2022 Edit: unfortunately for my past self, I basically stopped working on this game not long after the last monthly update, mostly thanks to two-fold revelation. the game wasn’t fun to work on anymore, nor was it fun the play. for that reason, and my rapidly dwindling free time at the time, this project exists functionally abandoned circa late 2018.
which is a shame, because I am still proud of what I made from a technical standpoint, and many of the central ideas for this game still live rent free in my brain. hopefully one day I will get to bring those ideas to life, in whatever form they will take.
